Volunteers are the heart and soul of SNARR Northeast. Every volunteer role is important in helping us save more dogs and find them loving forever homes. If you wish to join our family of committed volunteers with a passion for rescue, please fill out an application!
Available Volunteer Roles
Hands on Helping at the Adoption Center
It is so important for the dogs to get walked and spend time out of their kennels and meet new people. We need help socializing them in the yard and making sure they get their exercise. We can also use help feeding them and keeping their kennels clean to keep them healthy, safe and comfortable.
Transportation
We are always in need of a helping hand with transporting our rescue dogs. This primarily includes transport to adopters, fosters and sometimes airport pickups. Transport drivers use their own vehicle to chauffeur dogs on their journey. You can commit whatever time you are able to in this role.
Application Processing
We receive and process adoption applications every day of the week. SNARR Northeast is always seeking committed volunteers to join our team of Application Processors. The volunteer should be well organized, good with time management and of course… an animal lover!! Duties may include (but not limited to) so you should be comfortable doing the following:
- Interviewing applicants
- Calling personal and vet references
- Background checks on applicants
- Home visits
Application processing is a very important part of rescue work to ensure our pups find safe and loving forever homes. It does take time and commitment but it is incredibly rewarding! We will train and help guide you but we do ask that you are able to commit to taking a couple of applications a week.
Spay / Neuter Team
Our spay/neuter team is a very important part of rescue work - ensuring that all of our adopted dogs and cats are spayed/neutered. Volunteers ensure all necessary spay/neuter contracts are submitted at adoption and follow up with adopters afterwards to confirm spay/neuter appointments. They also assist with making appointments through our partnership with TARA, which provides low cost spay/neuter. Duties may include (but not limited to) so you should be comfortable doing the following:
- Logging and updating information on google sheets
- Replying to emails and sending out reminder emails
- Follow up phone calls to adopters and veterinarians
